The IDDD’s oldest project, provides quality defense for defendants who don’t have any assistance in the Trial by Jury
Ensuring access to a fair trial, regardless of the accusation, trajectory or social class of the defendant, is one of the IDDD’s missions. For 20 years, the lawyers associated with the institute have sought to fulfill it through Right of Defense in the Trial by Jury project. Based on an unpaid agreement with the Public Defender’s Office of the state of São Paulo, the IDDD members receive cases of intentional homicide charges to work with. Besides providing defense of excellence and reinforcing the premise that the right to defense is unrestricted, the project is also a space for exchanges between young lawyers at the beginning of their careers and experienced professionals.
Partners: Public Defender’s Office of the state of São Paulo. This initiative is financed by the contribution of all the IDDD associates.
